- **The installer says what it is**: the `spitfire.sh` install scripts (bash and PowerShell) send the User-Agent `spitfire-installer/1 (<os>; <arch>)` when they download, so the anonymous download counts can tell a real install from browsers and crawlers. No id, install number or machine-specific detail is sent; Spitfire still collects no telemetry.
Updating
Your installation tells you about a new release itself: admins see its notes and the update command for that installation at the top of the UI. The command backs up the database first and keeps the settings (Updating). You can also follow new releases with the RSS feed.
