Spitfire 0.53.0 release notes
Released: 2026-10-18
- **Synthetic monitors in Prometheus**: `/metrics` now carries the enabled monitors too: state (`spitfire_monitor_up`, `spitfire_monitors{state}`), the last check and the interval in force, the error budget left, the burn rate, the SLI and SLO target, drift from the living baseline and planned maintenance. Labelled `monitor`, `test`, `environment`; a user's token shows only their own monitors, an admin's shows all of them.
- **Grafana dashboard and alerting rules**: the examples repository's Grafana dashboard has a "Synthetic monitors" row (up/down/in maintenance/drifting counts, the lowest error budget, a monitor table), plus five Prometheus alerting rules for the monitors (failing, stopped checking, budget low, burning fast, drifting). Spitfire still sends its own alerts; the rules are for teams that use Alertmanager.
Updating
Your installation tells you about a new release itself: admins see its notes and the update command for that installation at the top of the UI. The command backs up the database first and keeps the settings (Updating). You can also follow new releases with the RSS feed.
