Spitfire 0.40.0 release notes
Released: 2026-10-17
- Add-on modules can now be licensed per connection: instead of the whole monitoring events module a key may carry only the connections you use (Zabbix and Dynatrace, for example), and for issue tracking only Jira or only ServiceNow. Connections the key does not carry show a lock on their button.
- Keys with the whole module and Enterprise keep every connection; the 7-day trial still turns on all of them.
- A new installation needs a license key before its first run; a free key is enough, and the License page's Get a free key link carries the installation ID to the form. Installations first seen before 20 October 2026 keep their 14 days without a key; tests and results are never deleted.
- A paid key can be bound to one or more installations too; any other installation refuses it. The License page's purchase links carry the installation ID to the order form.
- spitfire run keeps to the free edition's limits (virtual users, duration, request rate) unless a key is given with --license or SPITFIRE_LICENSE.
Updating
Your installation tells you about a new release itself: admins see its notes and the update command for that installation at the top of the UI. The command backs up the database first and keeps the settings (Updating). You can also follow new releases with the RSS feed.
